Entering the real world

We have had a great start to the term, with a special focus on the world of work taking focus as we head into week two.

Stars of the Week

We started the new term by celebrating a table full of superstars as they were awarded their Star of the Week badges.

From supporting a peer who was upset, to helping someone in need at a supermarket, to exceptional work in PSHE – we had a wonderful collection of kind students this week.

Mr Clarke reflected on how proud he is to see so many students be kind simply because it is the right thing to do.

Well done, everyone!

“I’m going to ruin you!” (not literally)

We have a host of new extracurricular activities for students to try this term. We popped into Warhammer/Games Club and Board Games Club this week to see what goes on.

From chess to Forbidden Words, to LEGO, to Dobble, to ColorKu – there are plenty of different board and card games for students to play.

It was great to see the students get involved in the games, and the friendly banter between players was very humorous to hear!

It’s a great way to let off some steam after school, and it is excellent screen-free fun!

Drop-in welcome at both clubs.

Donate your old uniform

Every year, we host a pre-loved uniform pop-up shop with key uniform items at discounted prices.

We know children can quickly grow out of uniform, and donating the pieces that don’t quite fit anymore or are no longer needed means the pieces can be put to good use in a new home.

Please drop off skirts, trousers, ties, blazers, jumpers, and PE kit to Main Reception or drop them off at the Year 7 Office. We will confirm a pop-up shop date in the coming months.

Thank you in advance to anyone who donates!

Conversations in Manchester

Year 10 went on their GCSE Human Geography Fieldwork trip to study changes in areas of Manchester following regeneration.

Regeneration is the process of reversing urban decline by improving economic and social conditions, as well as upgrading the visual appeal of the area.

They completed data collection and asked the public questions regarding changes to Exchange and Hardman Square.

The students were incredibly hardworking, respectful, and committed to their fieldwork throughout the day!

Film reward

A large number of students were invited to a screening of Jumanji as a reward for their hard work and good attendance in the last term.

Well done!

Masquerade ready

Miss Hopwood’s Year 7 English classes have been designing their own masquerade-style masks that represent key themes in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Students drew romantic art and featured key quotes from the play.

Well done and great work!

Good luck to Year 10

Next week, Year 10 will be heading out into the world to complete their Work Experience placements.

Each student has secured a position at a location of their choice, often in line with their career goals. They’ll learn key skills for the workplace, like punctuality and professionalism, on top of the duties of the role they have been assigned.

Thank you to all of the businesses who have kindly offered to take on our students – you will make a big impact on the workforce of tomorrow!
