We are delighted to share that we have been awarded the Gold Behaviour Quality Mark, the highest level possible. This award was awarded following a visit from external assessors, who spoke with pupils and staff and observed daily school life.
The assessors were very clear in their feedback: from the moment they arrived, they felt that Haslingden High is a welcoming, calm and positive place to be. They commented on how polite, respectful and well-mannered students were at all times, both in lessons and around the school. Behaviour was consistently positive, and pupils were described as a credit to the school and to their families.
The assessors noted that students understand what is expected of them and take pride in behaving well. Classrooms were calm and purposeful, transitions between lessons were smooth, and routines were followed sensibly without fuss. They were particularly impressed that good behaviour is not left to chance, but is clearly taught and reinforced, helping students to feel safe, confident and ready to learn every day.
The assessors reported that students spoke openly and positively about their school, describing it as supportive, inclusive and caring. Sixth form students highlighted the strong sense of community and responsibility, and the assessors saw clear evidence of students taking on leadership roles, supporting younger pupils and contributing positively to school life.
Support for students was described as a major strength. The assessors recognised the school’s strong pastoral and inclusion systems, noting that students are well known as individuals and supported quickly when they need help. They commented on how confident pupils were that any concerns, including bullying, would be dealt with promptly and fairly, and that relationships between staff and students are based on trust and respect.
Equality, diversity and inclusion were also highlighted by the assessors as being clearly embedded in everyday school life. They saw pupils treating each other with kindness and understanding, and noted that students are encouraged to respect differences and look out for one another.
Importantly, the assessors emphasised how proud students and staff are to belong to Haslingden High School. They described the school as feeling like a genuine community, where positive behaviour, strong relationships and high expectations go hand in hand.
Achieving the Gold Behaviour Quality Mark is a powerful endorsement of what we see every day: students who behave well, care about others and take responsibility for their actions. We are incredibly proud of our pupils and grateful for the continued support of parents and carers in helping us maintain such a positive and respectful school environment.
