Brief details:
The art & design specification provides candidates with the opportunities to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures in practical, critical and contextual form.
Preferred entry requirements:
Grade 5 or above at GCSE art
Units studied:
- Unit 1: Personal investigation
- Unit 2: Externally set assignment (preparatory period plus 15 hours of exam time)
Exam Board: AQA
Course assessment details:
This course is assessed through practical examinations (40%) and controlled assignments (60%)
Progression and career opportunities:
An A-level in art & design will prepare students to study and work in the following areas: graphic design, photography, fine art, three dimensional design and crafts, fashion and textiles.
