Here’s what has been going on this week…
Football champions
The U16 girls were brilliant on Monday, beating Morecambe Bay Academy 1-0 in a hard-fought Lancashire cup match.
They will meet Whitworth in round 2.
Good luck, girls!

Haslingden Sixth Form October fun
The Sixth Form Leadership has launched their calendar of events, including breast cancer awareness and Wellbeing Week themed activites.

Sports Challenge underway!
We have been chosen to take part in the Cash for Kids Sports Challenge, wherein we have the chance to receive thousands on top of what we can raise from donations.
One initiative we are running is a breaktime tuck shop, led by students.
Next week, students are invited to wear non-uniform in PE lessons, whether that’s a team kit, football shirt, their favourite colour, and so on!
At the end of the week, we will be having a Staff vs Sixth Form Students football match, where students will be invited to watch for a small donation.

Super cars in Science Club
Mr King hosted the first Science Club meeting of the year, where they made car models out of card and bobbins, and attached a balloon so see how far it would travel.
The experiment demonstrated Newton’s Third Law of Motion: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When air rushes out of the back of the balloon, it pushes the car forward.

University Challenge is coming…
Mr Wood and Mrs Taylor have teased this year’s University Challenge competition at Haslingden Sixth Form.
Every year, the pair host an inter-subject game show, where delegates from each subject go head-to-head in knockout rounds. The last two teams will face each other in the theatre, in front of the sixth form student body and staff.
Any student interested in putting their knowledge to the test should speak to their teacher about participating.

Year 11 Information Evening
On Thursday, we welcomed current Year 11 parents/carers to our Information Evening, where we went over what to expect in the next Year.
With GCSEs just a short seven months away, it’s important that students remain focused, present, and prepared for the next few months, as they will soon fly by!
If your child needs any support with their studies, please contact the school.

Year 7 Transition Football
Some Year 7s were involved in a Year 7 transition football festival at HHS on Tuesday. Students practised their dribbling, passing and shooting skills and played in some competitive games against local schools. Well done to all involved.
