A week to remember!

It has been a wonderful week of celebrations this week…

The Golden Gig

On Thursday, we welcomed over 300 guests to our sold-out anniversary event: The Golden Gig.

We had live performances from past and present students, covering songs from the decades. The PTFA ran a fantastic bar service, featuring beer from Northern Whisper and a personalised ‘Golden Ale’ from Moorhouses. Get Stuffed served delicious jacket potatoes and burgers. The walls were covered with old school photos for guests to spot themselves in. Our sixth form students ran a chocolate tombola and stall, while former student Selene Bridge represented her brand, Unscripted

Thank you to everyone who came along – we hope you enjoyed the evening!

Here is to the next 50 years of Haslingden High School and Sixth Form.

TJ’s play heading to the big stage

TJ, Year 9, who was born in Australia, has written a play to raise awareness of the ill-treatment of Australia’s Aboriginal ancestors.

Terra Nullius (No Ones Land) will be playing at the Burnley Youth Theatre on 26th and 27th March.

It’s an amazing achievement, and we’re incredibly proud of TJ’s achievement here.

Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition underway

Our Silver DofE students are currently making their way around the Yorkshire Dales to complete the second stage of the award.

We wish them the best of luck on their travels!

Badminton champions

Congratulations to our Under 14 Badminton Team, who won a number of singles and doubles games to become the overall champions of Rossendale on Monday.

The girls showed determination and excellent sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

Well done!

International Day of Happiness

To celebrate International Day of Happiness, Ms Nixon’s 8T form each wrote a note to make someone happy!

Most of them wrote a kind word to a friend.

A lovely way to start the day.

500 XP for 50th

In Duolingo Club on Tuesday, Andy Year 9 organised a 500XP challenge for 5 House Points to commemorate the school’s 50th anniversary.

Well done to all involved!

We would like to wish Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating this weekend.
