Half term is upon us, and we’re wrapping up another successful week. We even had a double rainbow over school this week – how lucky!
Wellbeing Week
Every year, the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team organises a Wellbeing Week before October half term, to allow students a time to unwind after a busy assessment period.
On Monday, they wore their pyjamas and sold hot chocolate, Tuesday they wore green for mental health, Wednesday they had a free breakfast courtesy of the school, and on Thursday they dressed up for Halloween and held a bake sale for lower school students.
Throughout the week, they have raised over £200!
Staying connected and having opportunities to organise their own events is an important element of life at Haslingden Sixth Form.

Spooky biscuit decoration
With Halloween just around the corner, Mr Ferguson’s form, 10A, tried their hands at gingerbread decorating during registration. Each student had a pumpkin-shaped cookie to decorate and eat afterwards. It was a nice way to wind down for half term.

Attendance Champions
This term, we launched a new campaign to encourage students to improve their attendance. It was a video game-style championship, with each year group having a mascot that sits in the winning form room for a week.
The students have really engaged with the competition, and this week, the first leg of the game came to an end with a non-uniform day for the winners.
Well done to the winners 7T, 8I, 9N, 10I and 11T!

Drama focus on Blood Brothers
On Monday, we welcomed Henry from Burnley Youth Theatre to help Year 11 Drama students explore their interpretation of Blood Brothers.
The group worked on key themes from the play and explored the different characters throughout the story.
Thank you to Burnley Youth Theatre for stopping by.

Welcome, Class of 26
On Tuesday, we held our annual Haslingden Sixth Form Open Evening and welcomed current Year 11s from HHS and from further afield to explore all the great things we have to offer.
If you couldn’t make it, feel free to get in touch (sixthform@haslingdenhigh.com) or explore our website.
