This week, we have seen a huge interest in clubs and extracurricular activities. We are glad so many students are interested in expanding their studies!
An explosive media lesson
Year 10 GCSE Media students headed to the science faculty this week. Mr King held an explosive experiment, which the students filmed to use the clips in their coursework.
The session taught the students how to line up the perfect shot and explore different camera angles.
We love to see cross-faculty collaboration!

Dropping the dress code
The Sixth Form Leadership Team invited their peers to dress in blue and purple to raise awareness for suicide prevention.
The group displayed posters with helpline numbers. It was great to see our student body coming together for such an important cause.

Smile for the camera!
It was photo day today, and we had four very busy photographers on site capturing all of our lovely students.
School photos are a great memory to keep hold of!

The Witches have come early
Drama rehearsals for the school production of The Witches have begun, and this week the cast got to grips with the brand new set design, which has never been done before!
It was great to see so many enthusiastic young actors!

European Day of Languages
This week in assembly, Mrs Taylor celebrated languages as a superpower and encouraged students to test their interpretation skills with a ‘guess which teacher is speaking a different language’ quiz.
As a result of the assembly, DuoLingo Club saw a new influx of members. Learning a new language is such a valuable skill, and we’re so pleased that so many students were inspired after the assembly this week.
In the club, Safiya in Year 8 won the Duo pin for the highest streak, and three students won Duo stickers in the random name wheel. They had a tie for second place in the best streak between Theo and Idris in Year 7.
Going for gold
Rosemary, Year 9, has achieved Gold in our Reading Award for Key Stage 3. She has read and reviewed 30 books since joining us in Year 7!
Rosemary has received a £20 voucher as well as a Gold badge and certificate. She will be heading for Platinum next!

Brand new club
We have a brand new Warhammer Club where students have the chance to collect, build, paint, and play games associated with Warhammer. Games such as this help to improve memory, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
Students can ask their Form Tutor for more information on clubs. The timetable can be found here.
