A SCHOOL’S popular Animal Club received a visit from Zoo2U when students came face-to-face with a Dumeril’s Boa snake, kookaburra, skunk, skink and more.
Haslingden High School and Sixth Form Animal Club is always over-subscribed with students wanting to join, and this year there are two groups that meet on alternate Wednesdays after school.
Isaac Hall, 12, is in Year 8 and has been in the club since Year 7 so is now am ambassador.
He said: “I started going because I new someone who went there and I have been a member ever since.
“We learn more about different animals and we do different activities.”
The school has its own corn snake, stick insects, gerbils, large African snails and lots of fish.
Lexi-Rae Freeman, 12, said: “I have always had an interest in animals and I want to be a vet when I am older so it is good to learn about different animals now.
“I had held a Boa before and I had heard about them so to get to see one and get close to it was great.”
