BUDDING engineer Jason Suket, 13, got the chance to find out what subjects to take so he can pursue his chosen job at his school’s Careers’ Fair.
The Haslingden High School Year 9 student will be selecting his options for his GCSE years.
He said: “The first company I saw was Fort Vale Engineering and I have always wanted to be an engineer so I asked them what options I should take.
“They said to do science or double science, English and Maths and they also offered me to do work experience when I get to Year 10.
“I also spoke to the RAF as I could go to be an engineer there too. Now I have more options of other jobs I could do.”
Assistant Headteacher Sally Finney said: “The event aimed to provide students with the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from post-16 and higher education providers, as well as professionals from different employment sectors, helping them make informed decisions about their future careers.
“The event was successful with exhibitors commenting on the students being engaged and asking some great questions.”
Year 9 and 11 students and Sixth Formers visited the fair.
The school had 18 different stalls in the Sixth Form Theatre ranging including schools, colleges, universities, apprenticeships and training providers.
The Armed Forces were represented by the RAF and the Army and the Police were present.
Local businesses included: Camfil, A&H Hargreaves carpenters and joiners, the Horse and Bamboo Theatre, Orbital Design and Accrington Stanley along with NorthWest company MHR Motorsports.
