Working together with parents and carers
“Pupils behave very well. They move around the school calmly. They pay attention and concentrate in their lessons. They are keen to learn. Pupils’ conduct reflects teachers’ high expectations.”
Ofsted
We are proud of the behaviour and attitude of our students, and this continues to be our strength. It underpins positive relationships, fostering trust and mutual respect throughout the school.
Parental engagement and support is key to this endeavour. By choosing Haslingden High School, you are standing side-by-side with us. Each member of this trio – school, parents, and students – all have a responsibility to uphold our high expectations and contribute to the positive and purposeful learning environment we work exceptionally hard to create.
Our students are proud to wear our uniform because they are proud to be part of our school. A uniform promotes a feeling of unity and a sense of belonging, and we insist on the highest standards of presentation.
Homework also has a key role to play in ensuring every student reaches their full potential. It supports, extends, and consolidates the work covered in lessons, while encouraging independent learning and time management skills. We think carefully about the transition from primary school and the expectations and structure of our
homework programme reflect this.
Primary School Transition
The settling-in period was made very easy for the pupils due to the attention and care provided by the staff.”
Parent
Moving from primary to secondary school can be a daunting prospect for children and for their parents. We place significant emphasis on our transition arrangements and have forged excellent links with our partner primary schools to ensure we make the appropriate arrangements for your child.
Our enhanced Pastoral Care programme in Year 7 is designed to ensure that there is always someone available to listen and offer support on an individual basis. We carefully and thoughtfully structure our first few weeks to allow your child to adapt to secondary school life, making it a smooth and stress-free transition for all.
