The Learning Support Faculty at Haslingden High School has a long tradition of promoting inclusion. In addition to the SENCO, the staff team in Learning Support consists of Level 2, Level 3 and High-Level Teaching Assistants. Learning Support works closely with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure that young people with SEND can access learning, enjoy their school experience, and achieve their full potential.
All staff within the Learning Support Faculty have extensive knowledge and experience working with students with a wide range of additional needs. Across school staff predominantly support students with Autism, hearing and vision impairments, Specific Learning Difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, Moderate Learning Difficulties and ADHD. Learning Support Staff are specialists in several areas including Autism, literacy and numeracy difficulties, speech-language and communication difficulties and vision impairments. The Learning Support Faculty remains committed to providing student-centred, flexible, and robust provision for students who have been identified as having an additional need and to the promotion of high-quality inclusive practices. This is achieved by working in collaboration with a range of educational and health professionals.
Learning Support facilitates transition at all key stages, including further and/or higher education. A student at Haslingden High School can be identified as having an additional need at any stage of their secondary schooling. Long or short-term appropriate provision is established and reviewed in accordance with the graduated response.
