Super Stars and StudyPlus!

StudyPlus success

This week, we launched a new revision initiative called StudyPlus.

Having a dedicated study space is essential for a successful revision session, and we understand this isn’t always an option for some students.

We also wanted to provide spaces for students to revise at their own pace – whether that’s independent, group, or classroom-based study.

We saw 98 Year 11 students attend the very first session on Tuesday, and 113 came along on Thursday.

We hope to see these numbers increase in the coming weeks.

Revision has to be done, so why not StudyPlus?

Super Stars of the Week

We had 16 students and two staff ‘Stars of the Week’ join Mr Clarke for a breaktime reward this week.

From going above and beyond at Parents Evening, to helping a student in need, to going the extra mile to produce exceptional work…

We had some magnificent nominees this week.

Well done, and keep up the great work.

Sixth form students organise successful Iftar event

Two members of our Sixth Form Leadership Team, Naimah and Sadia, organised an Iftar event for students and staff members so they could break their fast together in celebration.

The pair worked incredibly hard to coordinate the event – decorating the room, organising a buffet, and leading the evening prayers.

We received a lot of support from our families, who made wonderful and delicious dishes to be served on the buffet.

A number of staff members chose to fast for the day in support.

Thank you, Naimah and Sadia, for organising such a wonderful evening and thank you to Miss Southee for supporting.

Important Burnley Youth Theatre workshop

The Burnley Youth Theatre group joined a selected group of Year 9 Gifted and Talented students for a one-off workshop.

The afternoon focused on the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and coercive control in relationships.

We also welcomed a police officer and child protection workers to support the session and offer their expert advice and experience.

There were some incredibly mature and thoughtful comments from students during group discussions, and it was clear they now know how to spot the signs and stay away from danger.

Thank you for visiting us.

Rock, gemstones, and geodes… Oh My!

Mr Raho’s Year 7 Geography class had a go at identifying rocks this week.

In pairs, students looked at a selection of rocks, identifying the texture, colour, and any distinctive features to discover what they were called and where they come from.

Fools Gold was a crowd favourite!
