Supporting local primary schools and looking towards the future…

Year 10 Futures Evening
As Year 10 approaches their final year with us, decisions about what to do after leaving high school become important.
This week, we welcomed students, parents, and carers to our Futures Evening. The evening was set up to allow students to explore their options for post-16 study.
Top education providers were in attendance and on hand to answer any questions.
The evening was a great success, and we would like to share a big thank you to all our exhibitors for supporting the event and helping to inspire our students as they begin planning their next steps.

Sculpting success
As Block C assessments begin, GCSE students have been preparing for their mock exams using Play-Doh to show an example of an antagonistic muscle pair.
This type of hands-on learning is great for making lessons more memorable and easier to understand.

Baby talk in Health & Social
Over the past few weeks, Year 12 Health & Social CTEC students have had the chance to look after our simulation babies for 24 hours.
It was a valuable opportunity for students to get a glimpse into what it is like to care for a baby around the clock—even during those nighttime feedings!
“The students did a great job in learning how to meet the needs of the baby, including feeding, changing nappies, changing clothes, ensuring they maintain the correct temperature, and handling them correctly,” said Health & Social teacher, Mrs Heywood.

Inspiring the next generation of sports stars
Haslingden Primary School held their biggest sports day yet this week, and a number of our Year 12 Sport CTEC students stepped up to help the day run smoothly.
With the entire KS2 taking part, it was a busy one! Our students did an amazing job helping guide the students around the activities and encouraging them to try their best.
The day went incredibly well and we’re proud of our students for being such good role models for the younger students.

The results are in…
Last month, the Science Faculty held a photo competition for Animal Club. The students were encouraged to take dynamic shots of nature for a chance to win a prize!
The winner was Pixie, Year 11, who captured ‘Sunset Sheep’ – a spontaneous shot of a sheep during sunset.

Niamh, Year 8, came second with ‘Bumble Bee’.

And Rubie, Year 7, came third with ‘Little Piggies’.

Well done to everyone who entered – it was a tight competition!
It’s been another great week! Stay tuned for another blog next week!
