SKIERS from Haslingden High School have retained their Mixed Slalom title in the NorthWest Ski Federation Schools Race.
On Saturday March 15, at Pendle Ski Club, the Haslingden team of Freya Johnson from Year 8, Patrick Wilkinson from Year 10 and Harrison Harwood from Year 9 were
the highest placed team of Upper and Lower Senior school students.
They are all members of Ski Rossendale Race Team, where they have honed their skills, and Patrick, who has been skiing since he was three, is also a member of Team GB.
Harrison posted the fifth fastest time of all boys, including Sixth Form students, and the second fastest time of Lower Senior entrants.
Patrick was the fourth fastest overall and also posted the second fastest time of Upper Senior entrants.
Freya, 13, said: “We all had our own races and then they added all our times together to work out how we had done.”
She got the fifth fastest time of all the girl entries, including Sixth Form students, and was first in the Lower Senior competition.
Harrison has been skiing from one year old and Freya took up the sport ages five.
She likes to ski in Morzine in France because she said it is a nice environment and really pretty and you get to ski through the town.
Harrison has several favourite foreign ski places. He said: “I like St Anton in Austria, it is a massive resort and there is lots to do there.
“In France we have a chalet and I also like skiing in Pila in Italy.”.
They will also be representing Ski Rossendale Race Club at the Sunderland Club National at the end of April.
