NEW Head Students organised a week of activities to promote health and wellbeing in Haslingden High School Sixth Form.
Head Student Ava Baker said: “On the Monday we had window painting, when students could write messages to each other and we also had pick and mix sweet bags to give away for free. Then on Tuesday, we held a bake sale which raised money towards our prom.”
Head Student Aisha Kirkham said: “We had a yellow day on the Wednesday when we handed out yellow ribbons to support the charity Young Minds and on Thursday we had a free lunch for everybody in the Sixth Form.
“On Friday we played games and wrote appreciation messages on the tables.”
Sixth Form student Josh Maddocks said: “I am part of the leadership team and took an active role in quite a lot of the organisation. Seeing everybody’s reaction was rewarding and every one took part in the activities.
“It shows students that, even though they have all the stress of exams, they are in a supportive and caring environment.”
Aisha said the activities helped to bond the Year 13 and Year 12 students and that it has created a more relaxed atmosphere and encouraged students to talk to each other.
The students have now introduced an appreciation board where students and staff can write messages.
More activities will take place over the Christmas week.
