‘Inspiring creative, curious and confident minds’
#makeartmakeadifference
The faculty is a thriving and energetic team of dedicated teachers covering the separate subject areas of dance, drama, music and art. The faculty has an outstanding range of specialist rooms for all subject areas.
The faculty is led by a Curriculum Leader, and comprises two dance teachers, three drama teachers, two music teachers and three art teachers; each department is led by an experience subject leader. In addition to offering GCSE and A Level courses in all four subject areas, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities and performance opportunities. We firmly believe that the role of extra-curricular activities is essential to the success of our students, helping develop their skills and talents but also building independence and confidence through performance.
Our drama department produces a biennial show; previous productions have included ‘Chicago’, ‘Oliver’ and ‘The Shakesperience’, and more recently we have staged original performances written and directed solely by the drama team. Students from every year group take part in our productions. Similarly, our dance department produces a biennial event, showcasing a diverse range of dancing talent from right across the school.
Our music department produces our ever-popular termly concerts, where our brass band, big band and other musicians perform to the public.
The expressive and performing arts subjects are an integral and important part of Haslingden High School. The arts subjects are hugely popular with students and the faculty attracts large numbers of students wishing to study at GCSE level, particularly in art and drama.
Homework is an important means by which students can deepen their learning and improve their understanding of topics studied. More information can be found in the subject pages below.
