English Language A Level

Brief details:

This course encourages learners to develop their interest and enjoyment of English as they explore many different aspects of the English language including lexis and semantics, grammar and discourse. Students will also explore issues such as language and power and how language has changed over time

Preferred entry requirements: 

At least grade 5 at GCSE English language and English literature.

Units studied:

  • Unit 1: Language concepts and issues
  • Unit 2: Language change over time
  • Unit 3: Creative and critical use of language
  • Unit 4: Language and identity

Course assessment details:

This course is assessed through examinations (80%) and coursework assignments (20%)
