November 2018: Entrepreneurs speculate to accumulate for charity

A YOUTH Enterprise Challenge Team has dispersed its start-up £50 donation to encourage the whole of Year 9 to help raise money.

Haslingden High School won the Youth Enterprise Challenge in 2016 and this latest Year 9 team is hoping to reclaim the title.

The team of eight will be planning events to raise money for Rossendale Hospice and came up with the idea of asking other forms for help.

Scott Haslam, 13, said: “We were discussing what to do in PSHE and we decided to give 50p each to 10 teams of three in each form and ask them to fundraise too.”

Scott and Hannah Wilson, 13, are looking at completing a sponsored bike ride, possibly to the Royal Blackburn Hospital, as well as raising money in school.

Kirsten Robertson, 13, said: “We will be contacting Tesco to see about doing a bag pack and we have five weeks to raise as much money as we can.

“I am a member of the charity club in school and I helped to take hampers last year to people’s houses. It was good to see people’s reactions when they saw the hampers.”

Hannah added: “I am looking forward to raising money for charity and having fun while we do it.”
