Open Evening

A SPOOKY camping trip in a forest and a mathematics fairground of fun were just two of the attractions enjoyed by visitors to the school open night.

Around 600 prospective parents and students packed the school to view the different faculties and see what life is like at our school.

Deputy head Mrs Smith said: “I received some fantastic feedback from parents who had brought their children along. One father said that his son was quite shy but he had found the staff really encouraging and so his son had wanted to take part in the activities.

“Parents also remarked on how polite the students were who were showing them around.”

The drama team created the spooky forest while in science there was fire eating and ice cream making. A languages café opened for the evening, visitors got to make keyrings in technology and join a VE Day Blitz street party in humanities.

Entertainment was provided in the music department by a rock band, the Soul Band and the school’s own brass band.
