Queen Elizabeth II

Dear parent/carer,

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen yesterday.

Looking ahead, we know that whenever issues of loss or grief feature in children’s lives it can be an unsettling time and not all young people will know how to feel or respond. There may be some of our children who require additional support throughout the day and we have arranged for members of the pastoral team to be on hand to support with this.

This evening I have emailed all school staff to inform them of a slightly amended start to the school day on Friday. We have arranged to have an extended form period that will include period 1. We also believe it is important to acknowledge the Queen’s contribution and service to our nation and to offer an opportunity for our students to sign an online book of condolences during that time.

We hope that there will be other ways to mark the Queen’s remarkable life during the coming days and will seek the views of our students to see how this can be achieved sensitively.

If you have any concerns regarding this letter or would like to discuss any issue, please do not hesitate to contact us at school@haslingdenhigh.com.

Very best wishes

Russell Clarke, Headteacher
