TENNIS fans from Haslingden High School had a great time when they got to visit the sport’s most famous venue in the world – London’s Wimbledon.
They spent time spotting celebrities including former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, David Beckham, Bear Grylls, Michael McIntyre and many more
James Butterworth, 15, said: “A lot of the students were taking selfies with the celebrities but every time I saw someone my phone was in the bottom of my bag so I missed out on getting the pictures.”
However, the students did end up featuring on BBC TV as they were watching a match on Court One and the camera panned to the students wearing their purple polo shirts.
Hannah Wilson, 13, said: “We watched the mixed doubles on Court One and we felt a part of what was going on, much more so than just watching it on TV.”
James added: “The atmosphere was great, but it was really busy. There was a guy on Henman Hill and every time Federer got a point, he was going mental, but when Nadal scored one he was crying.”
