June 2019: Olympic dreams now a reality for gymnast Tegan

GYMNAST Tegan Cole has her sights set on an Olympic place after she came second in the North West Open Gymnastics Competition.

The 11-year-old was competing in a class of 37 girls aged 11-16 years old, making Tegan’s achievement all the greater.

She was representing Bury Gymnastics Club at the competition at the Robin Park Arena, Wigan.

Tegan said: “I have been doing gymnastics for four years and train every Monday to Thursday after school and on a Saturday.”

Each week she can spend up to 22 hours training but her dedication is reaping rewards.

She said: “I did a routine on the floor, bars, beam and vault, but I didn’t think I would have a chance because I was against people much older than me.

“I performed my best routine and I finished it with a cartwheel followed by a tuck and a full twist to dismount. I landed the dismount and I knew I had done well.
