EQUESTRIAN Daisy Cook helped her England team to the silver medal at the European Championships in France.
Year 9 student Daisy has been horse riding since she was four and has competed in mounted games since she was nine.
Her horse, Strawberry, accompanied her to the competition when she competed for the first time with five others in the U14s team.
She said: “The championships were held over a week and each day there were two sessions with seven races in each.
“Four out of the five team members were selected for each race and these ranged from how quickly you can get onto your horse and get to a specific point, to picking things up while riding.”
Daisy has only had Strawberry for a year, but she was already trained in mounted games so they made a good team.
She has previously competed in the England North team, but this was the first time she had been selected to represent the country.
The five members took part in a competition in Leicester so they could decide who would be best at each of the disciplines.
The eventual winner was a team from Italy with England in second place.
