Out talented U14s footballers are hoping to emulate last year’s success and be crowned county champions.
They are now just one game away from the final after beating St Augustine’s at home in Billington in a tough match.
Beth Macdonald, 13, said: “It was really hard fought game. About a third of the way into the first 30-minute half I got a break and I passed the ball to Lucy Valentine.”
Lucy, 13, said: “I was near the penalty spot and their goalie was in the middle of the net so I kicked it to the right and near the post and it went in.”
St Augustine’s then equalised before Abby Clarke crossed the ball and it deflected off on of their players and Haslingden went ahead again.
Just before half time St Augustine’s equalised so it was 2:2 at the start of the second half.
Beth said: “I had a shot and the ball hit the inside of the post and bounced back out, fortunately straight to Lucy Spence who then scored.”
The final score was 3:2 to Haslingden securing the team’s place in the semi-finals.
