KEEN golfer Daniel Bolton was awarded an amazing eight trophies from his golf club.
Daniel, 14, is a Year 10 student at Haslingden High School was awarded a special trophy for helping his junior golf team win the Blackburn and District League.
Added to this were three trophies from Stableford competitions, two junior medal competitions and the Junior Championship having achieved a nett score of 64.
He won the order of merit for the most points scored throughout the golfing season and he was also nominated by the junior committee for player of the year and although he didn’t win, a former Haslingden High School student Luke Bartram, picked up the trophy.
Daniel, from Helmshore, said: “My handicap has reduced from 45.5 to 36 and this has definitely been my best year.
“In one game for the junior team, I won the 18-hole red tee competition at the Clitheroe Open
“I started playing about four or five years ago because my Granddad, Stephen and my dad, Andrew play.
“I started up at the driving range in Rawtenstall and then I joined Rossendale Golf Club. I entered a couple of competitions and started to regularly do well.
“Now I enter as many competitions as I can.”
When the weather improves Daniel will be on the golf course practising two to three times a week.
