DANCERS from Haslingden High School got the chance to show their skills on stage at Preston’s Guild Hall,

The students from Year 11 took part in the Lancashire Schools’ Dance Festival when they were given the title Once Upon A Time and they had to create a dance.

The 17 dancers, including three boys, along with dance teacher Stephanie Addison, choreographed a contemporary interpretation on the darker side of fairytales.

Miss Addison said: “We created an abstract dance based on the Grimm Brothers’ fairytales.

“There were around 20 primary and secondary schools at the festival and we all joined together for a finale.

“Prior to the event, we were sent a video of our role in the finale and we had to rehearse it. When we got to the Guild Hall we then had several rehearsals with all of the other schools who were also performing.

“The students were incredible; the Guild Hall is a huge venue with a large stage and lots of people in the audience.”
