YOUNG musicians from Haslingden High School joined just 11 wind bands from around the country at the Music for Youth National Festival.
Students even returned early from holiday so that they could take part in the concert.
The Wind Band performed Metrix, Cyclone and Africa Beat and delighted the music mentors that were watching and listening at Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Head of Expressive Arts Kevin Gibbs said: “There were schools from all over the country. We got amazing reviews and excellent feedback.
“We were told the band produced a ‘gorgeous sound’, very visual and it was clear the students enjoyed playing the last piece.
“It was also the last concert for some Year 11s and the Year 13 students who are now moving on.
“We also got a lot of support from the parents and also the Chairman of Governors John Davey came along.”
