September 2015: Footballer Finn dreams of turning professional

Finn Bartram - Haslingden High - Bury FC

BUDDING professional footballer Finn Bartram is only 11 but already he has been scouted by Everton, Blackburn, Burnley and was offered a contract with Port Vale.

Stoke was a bit too far from his Irwell Vale home but Finn has been playing for Bury Football Club since 2012 starting with the under 9s and now playing with the under 12s. He previously played for Rossendale Juniors.

The Year 7 pupil at Haslingden High School supports Bury FC and also Real Madrid and Barcelona and dreams of playing for one of the Spanish teams.

Finn said: “I love football because when I am playing I go into my own world and it lets me express myself.

“I am very competitive and when I play, I play to win; I hate to lose. I am very quick on the pitch and am good at passing and so have assisted to set up many goals.

“I have played against the Manchester United junior team but I really enjoyed playing against Manchester City and the pitch was near the Etihad Stadium.

“I would really like to get a scholarship and I would like to play for a Spanish team because I like the way they play football, they do a lot of passing rather than just one person having the ball.”

Finn’s Under 11 team coach at Bury described Finn as a versatile player with very good technical ability and tempo. He said: “He always exhibits an excellent attitude and determination towards training, learning and playing.”
