YEAR 7 boys proved they were the top athletics team in Rossendale at a competition in Nelson.
At Seedhill Athletic Track, the school joined 500 other pupils for the event that was organised by Haslingden High School’s PE Teacher Mrs Wilson.
Head of PE Mr Haworth said: “The Year 7 boys won their events and the Year 7 girls also did very well as did the Year 9 boys and girls.”
First place certificates went to: discus, Catherine Masters, Ben Loughnane, Erin Smith; high jump, Georgia Wardle, Faris Lorgat; 200m, Joe Rodwell, shot, Josh Howarth; 100m Joe Rodwell; 100m, Courtney Walsh; javelin, George Mills, long jump, Eleanor Wynne; 400m, Callum Howarth; relay Year 7 boys.
It was a rather hectic few days for Mrs Wilson with the Lancashire School Games in Blackpool on the Tuesday when the Year 9 rounder’s team, Under 13s girls cricket and Year 9 boys handball teams represented the school.
She then organised the athletics on Thursday and organised Rossendale’s Schools’ Triathlon at Marl Pits on Friday.
As if that wasn’t enough, she also attended the school’s Rugby League team’s first match in Leeds later on Friday.
