June 2015: Students help plant community crops in Haslingden

incred

RESIDENTS will be able to enjoy delicious fruit, vegetables and herbs outside their door after students worked on a scheme with Incredible Edible Rossendale.

Twelve students from Haslingden High School worked to fill and plant the raised bed planters on Lancaster Drive, Haslingden, near the school.

Callum Jackson, 15, explained: “We filled them with compost and then we planted herbs and cabbages. It was really good.”

Lloyd Worthington, 15, said: “We also planted chillies and strawberries. It was something different to do and I enjoyed it.”

When they have grown, the crops will be free for the public to use.
