July 2014: Let It Go… Let Me Go

Lily May Stansfield, a Year 5 student from Stubbins Primary School, was so excited after visiting our school’s 5-2-7 Evening, that she decided to express her feelings by writing her own version of Frozen’s ‘Let it Go’.  Thank you so much to Lily’s Mum for sending this revised (and original) version of the song to us!  We are very proud that Lily May enjoyed her time with us and look forward to meeting the family again at our Open Evening in September.  Well done Lily May!

Let It Go... Let Me Go
Let It Go

The Snow glows white
On the mountain tonight,
Not a footprint to be seen.
A kingdom of isolation
And it looks like I’m the queen.

The wind is howling
Like this swirling storm inside.
Couldn’t keep it in,
Heaven knows I tried. . .

Don’t let them in,
Don’t let them see,
Be the good girl you always have to be.
Conceal,
Don’t feel,
Don’t let them know,
Well, now they know.

Let it go ! Let it go !
Can’t hold it back anymore.
Let it go ! Let it go !
Turn away and slam the door.
I don’t care what they’re going to say.
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway.

It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small.
And the rears that once controlled me can’t get to me at all.
It’s time to see what I can do,
To test the limits and break Through.
No right, no wrong,
No rules for me…I’m free!

Let it go! Let it go!
I am one with the wind and sky.
Let it go! Let it go!
You’ll never see me cry.
Here I stand and here I’ll stay.

Let the storm rage on…

My power flurries through the air into the ground.
My soul is spiraling in frozen
Fractals all around.
And one thought crystallizes like
An icy blast-
I’m never going back,
The past is in the past!

Let it go! Let it go!
And I’ll rise like the break of dawn.
Let it go! Let it go!
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand in the light of day.
Let the storm rage on!
The cold never bothered me anyway.
Let Me Go

The Snow glows white
On the school tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of education
And it looks like I’m the queen

My mum is howling
Cos I want to get inside
Couldn't keep away,
Mother knows I tried. . .

Please let me in,
Please let them see,
Be the good girl you always have to
be.
For real,
Must feel,
Must let them know,
Well, now they know.

Let me go. Let me go.
Can’t hold it back anymore.
Let me go. Let me go.
Open up that high school door.
I don’t care what they’re going to say.
Let the term rage on.
The size never bothered me
anyway.

It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small.
The Expectations of Students
To Respect everything and all
It’s time to see what I can do,
To test the limits and break
Through.
No right, no wrong,
High school for me…I’m free!
Let me go! Let me go!
I am one with Haslingden High.
Let me go! Let me go!
You’ll never see me cry.
Here I stand and here I’ll stay.

Let the term rage on…

My power flurries through the air
Into the ground.
My mind is spiraling in teaching
lessons all around
And each thought crystallizes like
An icy blast
I’m never going back,
Stubbins is in the past

Let me go! Let me go!
And I’ll learn like never before
Let me go! Let me go!
To a high school I adore.
Here I stand in the light of day
Let the term rage on!
The size never bothered me anyway.
