January 2014: Sixth form students among country’s top 10 per cent

STUDENTS achieved record breaking results putting Haslingden High School’s Sixth Form in the country’s top 10 per cent.

Simon Heaton, Director of Sixth Form Studies, congratulated the Class of 2013 at the school’s Awards Evening and praised the year group for achieving the school’s best ever A level results in terms of the percentage A-A* grades, percentage of A*-B grades and in terms of average grade per exam entered.

He said: “Overall, the year group’s results put them in the top 10 per cent nationally in terms of progress from GCSE performance.

“However, the most important thing about these fantastic results is that they have allowed the individual members of the year to go on and achieve the things that they wanted. For most this meant gaining a place at their chosen university or, for some, taking the first step forward into their careers.”

The guest speaker was former student Wendy Halliday, Property Operations Director for Wyndham Worldwide – an international holiday company whose brands include Cottages4you, and Hoseasons.
