December 2013: Mugs full of sweets in memory of Sophie

CARING students will be selling mugs full of sweets and chocolates to raise money in memory of Sophie Lancaster.

Sophie died after being attacked by teenagers in Stubbylee Park in Bacup in 2007 and had previously attended Haslingden High School.

Year 11 student at Haslingden High Brittany Horsfield, 15, explained: “We are going to the Mill Gate Shopping Centre in Bury where we will be holding a stall on Friday November 22.

“We have bought mugs and Asda and Tesco have both sponsored sweets and chocolates to go inside.”

Head of Learning Support Sarah Duplain said: “We will be decorating and filling the mugs and then selling them for £2.99 each.

“The work is part of the CoPE – Certificate of Personal Effectiveness – level one qualification.”

Sophie’s mum Sylvia, family and friends have set up The Sophie Lancaster Foundation and the proceeds of the sale will benefit the cause.
