CAKES were made and sold at school to help a local cheerleading team compete in the European Championships.
Pioneer Cheerleaders Junior A team won the National Championships to earn their place in the competition in Italy – but now they need to raise £1,300 so the team can attend.
Year 7 student Laura Hartland, 12, said: “We will be representing the UK and I am really excited about it and looking forward to it very much.
“I started cheerleading when I was nine and I really enjoy it. It is really exciting and you make loads of new friends. You get to work as a team and it is like a big family.”
Besides the cake sale she organised in school, which raised £90, she will also be involved in the Pioneers fashion show, a jumble sale, bag packing and Cheerobathon.
The team will compete in the championships on Saturday June 29 this year.
