A YEAR 10 student walked eight miles out into Morecambe Bay to raise money for Rossendale Hospice.
David Clough, 15, and his mum Adette, joined 400 others on the cross bay walk from Arnside to Grange Over Sands.
He said: “It was tiring but it also felt good to raise money for Rossendale Hospice.
“At one point we had to walk through a river and the water came up to my waist and it was freezing cold.
“The hardest part was right at the end and my shoes fell to bits. “
David and his mum were among 62 people who walked across the bay for the hospice. The walk was led by an experienced guide.
His mum said: “There must have been a few hundred on the walk and it was good to meet all different people all in a happy mood chatting, dogs running and having fun, walking over the rumbling sinking sand.
“David and I both experienced this; it felt like we were on an escalator but we had to keep moving.”
