Sports’ Awards

SPORTING achievements were praised at a glittering awards’ evening at our school.

Almost 70 students attended the annual awards’ ceremony and more than 210 people were catered for by 40 students from Years 9 to 13 who volunteered to help prepare and participate as part of their catering studies.

The sports department arranged the awards and guest speaker Mark Cocker, Commonwealth Games wrestler and Assistant Head of Sale High School.

Head of PE Mr Haworth said Mr Cocker’s speech discussed the importance of being determined, training hard and showing commitment – not just having a natural ability.

Head of Food Mrs Sieg-Hogg organised the catering and diners were treated to creamy tomato and basil soup with homemade bread roll, shepherd’s pie and seasonal vegetables and lemon and strawberry cheesecake.
A raffle raised almost £150, which will go towards purchasing catering items for future events. The school’s Saxophone Group provided entertainment.
