POETRY penned by students from Year 7, 8 and 9 has been submitted to a national competition.
Entitled ‘The Poetry Games’, the competition asked students to write about a subject that matters to them.
English teacher Miss Marsland said: “Students have written poems about all manner of things. For example, we have had poems reflecting on how people today have a view of premier footballers as idols, but comparing them to soldiers who are the real heroes.
“We had poems on bullying, domestic violence, cancer and many other subjects.”
The competition was organised to celebrate National Poetry Day.
