Musical celebration of Scouting in Rossendale

A CENTURY of Scouting in Rossendale was celebrated at the Bacup Hub with a special concert.

2nd Rossendale Scout Group Band along with our own Big Band and Valley Academy Choir played and sang in the concert on Friday 12 October.

Head of Expressive Arts Mr Gibbs said: “I think it was probably the best concert that the Big Band has played. We played five pieces and they were all very well received by the audience.

“We are going to have more links with 2nd Rossendale and we are planning a concert in February. Students from Haslingden High are also in the Scout Band and in Valley Academy choir.”

Mr Hanson, who plays E flat Bass with 2nd Rossendale and is a technician at our school on placement from Huddersfield University, said: “It was really good and everyone played really well, both bands sounded good and the choir sang Glee-style songs and were great.”
